Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of the United States. Before entering politics Reagan was a successful actor who appeared in dozens of films. But then in 1966 he became Governor of California by a huge margin and was reelected again in 1970. His 1980 presidential bid ended in a landslide victory for Reagan who would remain in office for a second term. As president Reagan brought about a conservative revolution ushering in cuts to taxes and Government expenditures in an attempt to decrease American reliance upon Government. On an international scale Reagan brought about improved relations with the Soviet Union which would help bring the end of the Cold War after the end of his second term in office.
